Author Biography

I was born in Manchester, England, and grew up in Saddleworth. After graduating from Oxford I lived in Greece, Canada and France, with longish spells in Guyana and South Korea. Book publishing has been a part of my life for a long time -- I've been a literary agent, freelance editor and editorial director -- and so has travel -- I've worked in hotels and for adventure travel companies. I've been back in the UK since 2004 and am based in West Sussex. My writing on travel and culture has been published in various newspapers and for the last year I've written about once a month for the website www.londonkoreanlinks.net.

Meeting Mr Kim is available in the UK and Australia. I've been interviewed on Radio Four's Excess Baggage, Australian national radio and even YTN Korean television.

And now the lovely folks at the Korea Tourism Organisation are letting me talk all about Cool Korean stuff on Facebook and Twitter for them!

Thanks to Travelers Tales for publishing an excerpt from Meeting Mr Kim when it was but a work in progress in the anthology A Woman's Asia.

My feature story on South Korea is published in Blue Wings (Finnair) magazine in September 2009. They also reviewed Meeting Mr Kim back in January, calling it 'a warm and funny journey... an invaluable primer'.
